The Matthew Show
LIVE — Portugal Day Parade, Toronto
Hosting the full live broadcast of Toronto's Portugal Day Parade — his signature community-television gig.
The Matthew Show · A decade on screen
Luso-Canadian television host, storyteller, and an elected voice for the Azorean diaspora in Ontario.
“Tudo vale a pena quando a alma não é pequena.”Everything is worthwhile when the soul isn't small. — Fernando Pessoa

Born in Canada, rooted in the Azores — telling the story of a community that lives between two homes.
São Miguel · Toronto · and everywhere the diaspora calls home
A show he created, edits and hosts himself — TV reports, interviews, music, pop culture, travel, fashion and food from across the Luso-Canadian world.
Billed as the most-watched Portuguese television programme in North America — celebrating the people and traditions of the community.
Long before the cameras, there was the culture. Matthew is President of the Pérolas do Atlântico folklore group at Casa dos Açores do Ontário — a lifelong folk dancer who still takes to the street in the marcha, most recently carrying it home to perform on the island of Terceira.
The mark throughout this site is the Portas da Cidade — the historic gates of Ponta Delgada that Matthew helped raise again in Canada.

Elected the first-ever Councillor of the Azorean Diaspora for Ontario — a new voice carrying the community's concerns directly to the Regional Government of the Azores. Re-elected to a 2025–2029 term.
Made history as the first-ever red-carpet co-host of the International Portuguese Music Awards (IPMA) — “Portuguese music's biggest night” — in Providence, Rhode Island.
Organized the first official visit of the Regional President of the Azores to Canada, and coordinated raising the Canadian flag at the municipal chambers in Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande on Canada Day.
A key promoter of Toronto's first public space dedicated to the Azorean community — in the heart of Little Portugal, honouring the ~55,000 Azoreans who call the city home. He met Mayor Olivia Chow at its first-anniversary celebration, calling it “our permanent Azorean identity in this city.”
Official co-host of the 20th annual Boston Portuguese Festival at City Hall Plaza — guiding a full day of festivities for one of North America's largest Portuguese celebrations.

“One of the most recognizable faces in the Portuguese-Canadian community — through more than a decade on television.”
— Milénio Stadium
“A true meeting point where we celebrate the origins, history, sacrifices, and the integration journey of our community.”
— On the Azores Parkette
